Have you ever wanted to learn how remote exploits actually work against real systems? Ever wanted to experiment with tools like Metasploit but never had the opportunity? Do you write your own exploits and want to try them out without crashing your own servers? (ISC)² and the CIAS are proud to present Panoply, a network assessment and network defense competition, at the 2017 Security Congress.
The competition is free and open to all conference attendees in a multi-session format throughout the conference. Prizes will be awarded to the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place finishers from each competition day. 1st place receives a free pass to next year’s Security Congress, 2nd place prize and 3rd place prize. Never done anything like this before? The Panoply environment contains “how to” videos and practice targets - giving you an ideal, risk-free environment to expand your skillset.
During Panoply, a set of virtual machine targets is made available during each session. Competitors must access/exploit a target, plant their flag in the identified critical service on the target, and then defend that target from other competitors. Targets are checked for ownership and functionality every 2-3 minutes. Players accumulate points for every target they own that is still operational when checked. Targets are weighted with more difficult targets worth more points than others. The Panoply environment contains targets for every skill level from novice to assessment professional.
